The Reading Assistance Program (R.A.P.)
Beginning in December 2005, the St. Luke CDC offered literacy programming to adults. Ms. Connie Harrell served as the Educator in charge of this initiative and is a member of the National Literacy Program as well as a retired teacher from the Paterson Public Schools. The National Literacy Program works to promote Literacy as an essential component of a learning society and to make social, economic and political life more accessible to people with weak literacy skills. Activities are undertaken in partnership with the Paterson Public Schools, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Felician College. The Literacy Program is a computer based program that is customized to individual skill levels. Competency tests are completed at the end of each session and scores are private.
